Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Cyber Range
This facility is unique in Canada, consisting of a state-of-the-art, realistic cyber security research, training, and exercise environment for nuclear infrastructure. CLEAN participants will tour the CNL Cyber Range and participate in a half-day session, learning about cyber security fundamentals learning to identify and classify digital assets in operational technology systems. Transportation will be arranged for tour participants. Students must attend this tour.
Marine Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at COREHub
The Marine Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (MAMCE) ensures the adoption of additive manufacturing (AM) in the industrial marine sector of Canada, developing methods, procedures and effective workforce training systems. The UNB Engineering “COREHub” facility hosts some of the MAMCE’s AM capabilities. On this tour, MAMCE’s Director will show learners sample parts, discuss industrial applications of additive manufacturing, and introduce powder materials. A demonstration and explanation of an operating 3D printing machine will also be provided! Transportation will be arranged for tour participants. Students must attend this tour.
Point Lepreau Nuclear Generation Station (PLNGS)
PLNGS, a single unit CANDU-6 style reactor, is the only nuclear power plant in Atlantic Canada. The station is located on the shores of the Bay of Fundy, approximately 40 km southwest of Saint John, New Brunswick. Operational since 1983, PLNGS has undergone a major refurbishment (2012) and continues to produce ~30% of the province’s electricity. During the visit to PLNGS, small group tours of the select areas of the station (e.g., turbine hall, water treatment plant) will be provided. A visit to the on-site control room simulator, where future station operators complete their training, will include an interactive demo. Additional classroom style sessions on subjects such as community engagement and nuclear safety culture will be provided. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet with early career professionals working in a variety of station roles.
